As title really, it's the type used in the DCX 2496, mine seems to be bad, and need a replacement!

This chip is not an EEPROM but a Flash CMOS BIOS type. It seems to be obsolete, and I could only find one place to get it without going through military vendors and having to buy in surplus.
Lot of 2 Used BIOS Chips. Model: SST 39SF040 - eBay (item 350283369643 end time Dec-23-09 06:30:23 PST) Bios Chip SST 39SF040 Laptop HP Compaq Presari Pavilion - eBay (item 170409802629 end time Dec-20-09 19:19:30 PST) Both are US/Can vendors. I could not find one in the UK. |

Thanks, I forgot to say, they need to be PLCC32/DIP32 packaged also, tho I guess I could use an adaptor.
Would I be able to use another part in it's place? It holds the firmware in a DEQ2496... |

Memory - Flash - 29F040
Its somewhat comparable and sells to the UK. Check the pin-out sheet, sells in PLCC form. |
