I picked up a Eclipse 32440 with a blown channel. (four channels ~30v rails) It uses a TIP35C/36C set for each channel and the one complementary pair was shorted on the dead channel. The ST parts I got from Mouser have shorter leads than the MOSPEC parts. Like 5mm shorter and barely reached the circuit board.
I can't find the MOSPEC parts locally, any suggestions for other replacements? |

How about prolonguing the leads? By soldering pieces of solid wire for example
btw: Some lazy "technicians" here just don't bother removing the PCB to change transistors, they cut the leads of the shorted transistors and solder the new ones to the old leads, but that's a different thing. I always replace the entire transistor, as long as the leads are long enough

Thank you.
If there are no other alternatives what else could I do but lengthen them but that's the last and least preferred option. It seems however that there are transistors with the longer leads, I just have to find them since it's likely I'll be doing this again. The rest of the models in this line use the basic design and same transistors but parallel the outputs and raise the rail voltage for higher output. |

I have some of the MOSPEC devices for sale and can get more, if that helps.

I already have plenty of the ST parts which have 9/16" leads. I don't need more. Thanks anyway.
I should have looked closer at the datasheet (it says the leads are 14.2mm to 14.8) before I bought them. They worked but just barely. What I'm looking for are TO-247 parts with leads 20mm or longer. MOSPEC says theirs range from 18.5mm to 21.5mm. |

About 19mm in TO247 case.
![]() I have 2x TIP35C and 2x TIP36C. I can get more but they are about double Steve's price.
