I need a Celestion 6.5" speaker for a valve radio I am restoring.
The radio is a Pye P75.They were made from 1953 to about 196x methinks. I have searched in vain all the vintage radio sites and suppliers. Does anyone have one, know anything about this speaker, how to identify it or of any suppliers? The sticker on the magnet states"Celestion Type K6DO,Spec 2370" There is a "D" embossed on the edge of the magnet and "16FM" printed on the paper rim/seal bit. The coil is rubbing on the magnet. It sounds thin and distorted.I loosened the screw through the center of the magnet but I cannot get the magnet off,so I think a replacement is best.It has a great bassy tone when working properly(I can push the magnet slightly to one side and distortion stops) and an exact or close replacement would keep the radio authentic.
