Default Great Mouser story

No doubt most of us here have ordered from Mouser. I wanted to tell a positive story that happened to me earlier this week. I ordered a number of transistors from them, expecting that a few would be outside my desired tolerance. Quite normal. But one came in well below the manufacturer's minimum gain, and another was well below the others, although within manufacturer spec. One email to Mouser resulted in 2 new parts being sent to me free of charge. I offered to return the bad parts to them, but they felt there was no need for me to do that. That is true customer service.

Sometimes, ebay and other sites may offer what seems to be deals. But if you factor in potential counterfieting, factory seconds, failure rates and customer service, you may end up paying far more than what you would pay Mouser to get it right the first time. Or Mouser will make it right for you. As a side note, I placed another order with Mouser today. They will now be my #1 choice for buying parts.

I just wanted to pass on a positive experience since we only tend to hear about the bad ones these days.

A wonderful story. Thanks for sharing it.

Whenever I deal with a new supplier and am impressed with the service, I make it a rule to let them know. Like a little reward, I believe this spurs them on to continue providing better service. Everyone benefits.

Mouser once billed me for 2nd day air shipping when I had ordered ground shipping. Not only that, but the items weren't shipped right away and arrived no sooner than they normally would have with ground shipping. I phoned Mouser and expected a refund of the cost difference, but instead they refunded the entire shipping charge.

I've also gotten excellent service from MCM Electronics and Digi-Key. Companies that deal mostly on the wholesale level seem to treat customers the best.

customer service is a dying art in this country, its good to see it when it still exists! I will always support a business when it goes the extra mile, even if the costs is a bit more!

1) Got a story about mouser too. I ordered a number of transistors, in a particular package, because it was cheaper then some other package (same type). After some waiting, I called them to see what's going on. The nice lady says... they're not in stock, that package. Oh, I say, well, then please change the order to the slightly more expensive package, so that I can get them right away. Sure, she says, but we'll send them to you at the same low price as you ordered the low price package. I said I'd pay a little more for the others, she says, no, it's no problem, order changed, you'll get them soon.

2) Ordered a bunch of parts from newark. About six hours later I changed my mind about some of the parts, and called them to cancel part of the order. They said not to worry about it, I won't get charged. I said I'd send them back to them. She said no, and to keep them. I insisted. She said no way, just keep them. I said THANKS!

I've not had to return anything yet, but my experiences with Mouser have always been first class. I'm amazed that they will do things like bubble wrap glass fuses & put them in a bag marked Fragile. Always fast & reliable (I hope my parts are there tonight )
