Hi, I have bought (allong with some other things if you see my other post) some devices off ebay which are marked as BYV44-400. Now, after some serching on google I found information which told me that these things are High speed, high current 400V Diodes (two per package, with a centre common cathode). However, the guy who I bouught them from has told me that they are power transistors.
As he said they were leftovers from a project he had finished, I would like to think that he must be right (otheriwse he might get a bit of a shock - no pun intended - when he plugs it in). However, from everything I have found these things are diods.
So can anyone tell me for sure what these things are. Thanks.

Thats what I thought, well thanks for clearing that up then and I guess I can now rest happy that I have a LOT of High speed rectifier diodes for not a lot of money. Thanks, and if anyone else can provide anymore information on these (a data sheet would be nice) I would be very gratefull.
Hi,
Philips have discontinued the BYV44-400 but are still producing the -500 part. Click on the link at the bottom of this page

and download the BYV44 family .pdf which covers the -300, -400 and -500 parts.
