Hello everyone,
I posted this in the DIY section on head-fi, but since this thread is more heavily trafficked I thought I might be more likely to get a reply here. I imported a Kenwood HD30GB9 mp3 player, known for its sound quality, from Japan. Its screen is broken, and the DAP's warranty has long since expired (wasn't too keen on shipping it to Japan, anyway), so I'm looking to replace the cracked LCD. Note that only the LCD panel itself, inside of the unit, is damaged. There is no external damage to the screen. I've removed the panel and found a couple of numbers on it, but neither has been helpful so far in identifying the screen. Anyone have any ideas about how I can figure out what screen this is, and get my hands on one? If not, how can I go about choosing a compatible screen? The only information I have on it is that it has a 2.2" diagonal and 240x320 resolution. It wouldn't be difficult to identify the connector it uses, but I haven't done that yet. The first number is A6|1038173, which was on a white sticker on top of the connector. I'm not sure what the bar is between the 6 and the 1, but it's not a 1 and probably not an L, since it would be a lower case L and the A is upper case; it may be an I. The other number is MD3102 63, which is printed on the trace in a manner that's difficult to describe. Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Have you tried contacting Kenwood? They may have had the displays made for them specially, but regardless, they ought to stock replacement parts.

Thanks for the reply, Dangus. I contacted Kenwood USA, and they told me to contact Kenwood Japan. I have and am now waiting for a reply. Hopefully they speak English...
