Drill a small hole through the flange, loop the wire through and solder. You get a good mechanical and solder connection.

I think I'll give it a try. Cardas should incorporate that into their design.

What type of solder tip have you got on your soldering iron?
A wide chisel tip will be able to transfer heat a lot faster than a pencil type.
