Default best CD audio output from which cheap DVD player?

I am looking for a excellent sounding CD player, but rarely will also use to play DVDs.

I am not interested in all the fancy features of the DVD playing but mainly with good sound when I play audio CD.

Anyone have suggestion?, seems to be numerous DVD players under $50 range... but again with good audio.

thanks,

gychang

I can't suggest any of the $50 units, but I have the Oppo DV-980H and the stereo output is very good for the price of the unit.
The DVD player retails for $169.

Try Toshiba SD 3950/60/80 if you want a cheap DVD player that has has the potential to make decent sound.

Out of the box it is listenable. Modified it suppose to be pretty good.

Take a look at SD 3960 modification or do a search on swenson mods on head-fi.org

These old DVD players cost almost nothing last time I checked eBay.

Almost all player with the VADIS chipset are excellent sounding as CD players, I personally use a player branded BLUESKY and a DIGITAL which are exactly the same chinese players with different boxes
