I have a run of the mill 6 way speaker selection box that I would like to add individual volume control to each individual circuit. Is there anything special that I need to consider or can I just tie in a potentiometer to each output? I am kinda inexperienced to any circuit board stuff so any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is speaker level, you need to make sure you get appropriate pots (i'd consider L-Pads) for the application and the power you will deliver. Your switch box will need to be pretty big to house them, they aren't small.
