![]() 8 pin (4 each side) in a Musical Fidelity P270/2 power amp can't find any reference to it in a web search! there is one per channel, also marked N8819 on one, N8827 on the other. And would there be a newer (better?!) version. Thanks. |

I get some cross-reference hits to CA3180 which I believe is a VCA (Voltage-controlled amplifier) but unfortunately no datasheet

if i am not totally wrong the mf a370 uses a lm 318, a fast bipolar opamp.

Could be OP not zero -p OP for op-amp!
if this is indeed what it is and it makes sense would there be a better alternative these days? |

...........better - yes and no.
because this is a special fast precision opamp and i think it is part of the (sound)design........... but if you want to do some experiments you can find some other opamps.have a look at the lm 318 datasheet.........take care of oscillations if you change something. greetings.................. |

Can you post a photo of the part? Maybe someone will recognize a logo? Could it be an old Signetics part?

3180 is a VCA
try THAT Corp but I doubt u will find any direct replacements |

LM-parts are made by National but that might not be the case in 1988. Can't remember what CA was.
