Other than Black Gate, any other non-polar capacitors
suited for the feedback loop of an amplifier ?
(220uf , 50v)
Might work with 220uf, 25v
I see alot of high voltage films that are massive
in size, physically too big for the printed circuit board.
Anyone make smaller voltage non-electrolytic type ?

hehe..
Percy has polypropylene, but
the cost is around $60 each
and it's > 4" x 2"..... heh
The design I have calls for 220uf
and it shows a 0.1uf in parallel with
it......
Gonna layout the pcb to accomodate
the Black Gate or two Panasonic FC
caps in series to get non-polar.
Let the user pick which cap to
install...............
This particular circuit is the feedback
loop of the amplifier, do you think
I should use 1uf poly instead of
0.1uf poly ?

SY said:There's no cap better than no cap at all. Get it out of your feedback loop and use an alternate scheme to get rid of offset.

C5 is the 220uf capacitor in question.
I'm not sure why they need capacitors
here, prevent DC offset as you suggested ?

Why not Black Gate?
I reserved a space on my pcb
layout for the black gate, but
I was seeking alternatives,
not many people want to spend
$50 for a small capacitor that
should only cost a buck. hehe

So why don't you get Nichicon ES series from Percy? It will cost you two bucks, but I wouldn't look any further, hehe
Forget the Black Gates.

- 220uf - 50v cap ?
