Folks:
I'd like to build a simple relay-based source selector. Each relay will be connected to an input and a front panel-mounted switch, which will toggle between the various relays (and corresponding inputs). Can anyone tell me if the Omron G5V series (specifically, part no. G5V-2-H1-DC12) is appropriate for this application? I like this DPDT relay because of its size, price and the fact that a mounting base is available (part no. P6B-04P), but don't know if there is something better suited for line level signals. Many thanks, Scott |

The company I work for has been using this Omron part for many years for switching audio and video with no problems. I remember once they tried to switch to a lower cost Fujitsu part. We found in the production line that it had problems switching audio at low levels. We noticed that there is a spec called "minimum permissible load". The Omron is 10uA at 10mVDC, where the Fujutsu part was much higher, if I remember correctly 100mA at 10mVDC. This is a spec I will forever look at very carefully.
