I also do this for a living.
I too disagree with the suggestion to use a short patch cord at each end and a length of solid cable in between. The extra connectors reduce the signal quality and are more points of failure. My preference for up to 25 metres is patch cord only unless neatness is important. My media pc connects via 2x 2m patch cord and 22 metres of solid cable through the walls and ceiling space. more than 90% of faults are connections. less connections are better. For interest: in a desperate situation I got reliable 100 megabits through industrial 2 square mm twisted pair armoured instrument cable, total cable length was 126m including cat-5 tails connected with industrial electrical screw terminals. And wireless is not as good as you think. The reason it is unlicensed is because microwave ovens make the band completely useless for serious comms. I cannot run video (about 3.5Mb/s) reliably over 20 metres in my area, even with high gain directional antennas. Run wires where possible, only use wireless if you have to because it stops when your neighbour makes popcorn. Ensure your sockets are clean. pay a bit extra for good quality patch cords. Buy commercial ones like Krone brand or similar, not supermarket brands. Your high speed data may be too much for your Dlink device too. it may not be able to reliably throughput so much data to multiple computers. 50Mb/s is a serious amount of data and the buffers in the little switch inside the Dlink router may not be able to keep up with the load reliably. Dlink gear is excellent for the price but it doesn't keep up with professional equipment.
