High thermal dissipation available.
More tolerant of voltage on the wiper.
Lower noise.

For parts over ~10K ohms inductance not a factor @ audio frequency. Also not a problem in triode plate loads.

Not good choice for grid, plate, cathode stoppers. Here low inductance and short leads are critical.
 
A bit thread necro.. but I take it that something like this would be usable for initial plate adjustments, prior to replacing with fixed resistances. Voltages ~120-200V.

This would be in series with fixed resistances for larger values. Insulation 500V, capable of 2W. The over spec is simply to allow reuse at a later date with 320V or 400V.
