Ground field on pcb - how to connect ?

Hi

I have a short question and answere is probably very short too.
I've used the serch button but found nothing.

I'm not sure if "ground field" is technical term so what i mean by this is an area of copper on PCB connected to gnd.

And question is:
Should I connect this field to GND only in one point as in the upper part of a picture OR let the field be connected to the GND in every possible place - this means it is one big GND trace - as in the lower part of the picture

It would be nice if someone gave a link to an article or something about ground fields.

Thank you

Google using "ground plane". A very short explanation can be found here, but there's more to be found.

In your example, there's not really a difference. The differences will be big(er) when you're dealing with multiple circuits that are not close together and/or using different grounds (risk of creating ground loops). Also google using "star grounding".

Good luck.

Thanks for replay
I was looking for "ground field"... :/

I know that in this example there is no difference, i made this "board" just for example, but I've almost finished 10 x 4 inch board with active filters and on that bord it will probably make a difference.

Happy new year :) !
