I made a board for linear regulators, a bit on the "universal" side (should serve me in many projects). It's designed to use the LT1963 or LT1763 chips that are pin compatible.
However, I would avoid making another board to do a neg version of it, using the LT1964, as this chip is NOT pin compatible with the LT1763 - quite sad.
These chips are SMD devices.
I thought I could make a small board to be a pin adapter.
So this board would receive a SOT5 device on top of it (no problem here) and be soldered on the SO8 footprint on my regulator board.
This board would be soldered like a smd chip - more like a BGA chip.
Do you think it is possible? Using solder paste / reflow oven.
I think it should work, I'm not absolutely sure about it but...
