Hello guy's, I have been lurking around this forum for awhile, and am grateful to the knowledgeable folks who post here.

I am verry new to DIYing, mostly concerned with guitar effects pedals, and tube amplifier.

Eventually I will attempt to build an amp. However most of my attention will be pedals, and modding out a Dyna SCA-35 stereo amp.
I was lucky enough to be given the Dyna and it works fine now, runs really hot tho. I haven't been brave enough to attempt a bias adjustment to it yet probably read up on it for a few day first.

Any way my question concerns parts. Where can I get A grab bag kinda of useful goodies for me. I would like to have a bunch of caps resistors...etc etc etc....Is there a place i can order a standard supply?
kind of like those little plastic bins with screw and nuts.... with a multitude of commonly used values and such ?or do i literally have to go unsolder the old tv in the shed ?

Thanx for any input. I will be around and I'm sure you'll be answering more of my questions in the future.....

No easy answer to that one. If you intend learning and building small projects then a good supply of common parts is worthwhile. Otherwise buy for each project IMO.
What I do is have a minimum of say 10 of each value resistor ( good quality metal films 0.6 watt ) from 1 ohm to 1 meg -- E24 series. Caps, 1/4.7/10/47/100/220/470 mfd. 5 or 10 of each. Selection of semiconductors. The list goes on. After many years you have that much stuff that -- you know what it's like :)
All depends how serious you are. Parts suppliers do do kits of resistors and so on. They can be worthwhile. Otherwise buy separately, in any case most have minimum quantities, say 5 of any one value of cap, usually 10 for resistors. Cost wise £100 (GBP) would get a really good selection of parts.

Many suppliers on Fleabay do bags of components at reasonable prices.

I have purchased several lots eg mica caps from the USA.

Well I have decided on my first build, small very small for some of you guy's but i have to start some where.

So I have the parts, however the bc548, i could not find locally, so I googled and came up with a 2n3904 or 2n3907 ?
Any way Radio Shack only had a PN2907 . So Is this still gonna work ? should I change any other values to compensate ?

and lastly im going to hook this up in an enclosure to test. I would like to use the stereo input jack to cut power when not in use. How do I do that. I know it has something to do with using the unused right side connector of the 1/4 inch jack. since a guitar is only mono which runs mono left. correct ?

thanx guy's any info would be a help.
