I am thinking of moving my GC to a nicer enclosure that I can finally put next to my other stereo equipment and stop explaining to everybody why the volume knob is not straight. I want to order front plate from one of those places that make custom ones. I will also be adding headphone out, VU meter, tone controls, etc (I know sound will not be as pure anymore but I am going for the look
So I need a suggestions for an enclosure that's not too expensive (I can sand and paint). Something that will accept screw on front panel. Rack mount is OK if it has removable handles. I guess I need full size 17x12 (WxD) with height at least 2.5" but no more than 3-3.5". I browsed thru Ebay looking for any rack mount enclosures or other equipment that I could salvage but was unable to find anything that would work for me. Thanks. |

The best deal I've found on rack mount cases is:
http://www.circuitspecialists.com/level.itml/icOid/693 They're a bit cheaply made and you have to assemble carefully or you can strip the self-tapping screws but it looks good, especially when it's in the rack I'd be interested in hearing about any other sources. Seems like there's a much better selection in Europe

Thanks Iain for your recommendation.
Anybody else? I can't believe that nobody converted old equipment into a nice enclosure. |
