Default Nichicon KG "loopsided"

I have two Nichicon GK 10,000 uf 63V and they are heavier on one side (If you roll them they end up in the same position). One of them if I shake it it seems the innards are loose. Any idea?

Thanks.

Have you tested them at all?

Is that for real?

Not tested them. Don't have a DMM that can measure capacitance...

I wouldn't worry too much. I had a look, and pretty much every large cap that I have has at least a slightly uneven weight distribution, most of which I am sure are genuine and trouble free.

Did you get these from audiotek on eBay perchance? I bought a pair of 10 000uF 63v Nichicon KG Goldtunes from there a few weeks ago for a good price.

Yeah, got it from Audiotek as part of the FET discrete power supply.

Lacking a capacitance meter, I calculated the RC time constant for the capacitor while discharging through a 5K resistor after charging it to 57V, and indeed the capacitance is 10,000 uF (in fact it "measured" about 11,000 uF)

Thanks for sharing.

Theyre fine If you got them from Audiotek, I bought 6 pair of 4700uf 100v Nichicon KG same dimension as the 10,000uf 63v and they are weighted on one side as well, works great though and sounds even better.

I wouldn't worry about the KG's but if they are GK's like you said then worry!

I always wondered how legit that picture was till i came across this myself...

The temptation to cut open one of mine open is almost too much.
