Default How fast is a transil

I'm right now a bit curious about how fast a transil is. When I read datasheets I read "very fast" but no value. Anyone that knows more?

I have found < 25 ns but I'll guess it's about pico seconds.

GSI's databook states for the device 1N5555 - 1N5558:

""the response time is better that 1 nSec""

In their selection writeup, they state:

""in the case of induced lightning transients with rise times of 8 to 10 microseconds, an axial leaded AJTVS is acceptable. For transients with a faster rate of rise, such as an ESD pulse, a surface mount AJTVS is prefered since the typical lead inductance is less than 3 nH.""

In their spice simulations, they show about 200 pSec.

I'm confident they were unable to measure that...

Cheers, John
