Default TO220 5 lead package?

Hi

I'm planning on using the BUF634 in a project I'm currently designing a PCB for. I want to use the 5 lead TO220 package, but I'm not sure from the datasheet what the pad for this device should be. Does anyone have any experience with the 5 lead TO220 package? Should I just use 5 pads on a 0.1" spacing - IOW is the package wider than normal TO220? Or are the leads staggered?

Many thanks for any help!
Tim.

The package is normal size. The two extra leads are shoehorned in at 0.05" centers, and all five are inline. I'd recommend staggering them out (away from the tab) and having two rows of pads (offset by 50 mils of course) so that you can keep your pads normal sized.

Thanks for your feedback. I've attached an image showing the pad I intend to use based on what you've said - U1 and U3 are BUF634 ICs. I want to mount them offboard, lying flat on a heatsink above the PCB. The grid is 50 mils.

Thanks again,
Tim.
