I need your advice regarding SMT capacitors for audio. I'm building a guitar preamp (SMT version), in which there is a filter. It seems to me that ceramic capacitors are not good. I consider WIMA polyester (or polyethylene) capacitors: http://www.wima.com/EN/smdpet.htm . What do you think?

What capacitance values are you looking at using? C0G/NP0 ceramics should be fine for use in a filter. The metallized polypropylene ones you linked to look nice as well. They're probably pretty expensive though.

The values are: 470p, 220n, 33n, 22n, 1u. Since this is a filter, the caps should have correct values. The problem is that, for example, ceramic caps 220n have measured value something like 195n (which may change freqency plot of the filter).

The C0G/NP0 ceramics are available in tight tolerances (1%, 2% are common). Depending on the package size you're looking for, you could probably only find C0G/NP0 caps for the 470p and maybe the 22n and 33n values.

Thanks, I will search for 5% caps (0805 package). It seems that I have the caps with 20% tolerance.
