Solder mask

If I'm building a little circuit board, for example a thing for a discrete bridge, what should I use for solder mask to make the soldering look neater when I'm done?

Generic name is preferred, like shellac, varnish..., but I'll appreciate any suggestions.

I use spray urethane overcoat because it is reworkable, but this doesn't improve the looks at all. I use it mainly to increase the reliability of boards with small traces.

Techspray UR? something like that.
