Can anyone recommend a mechanical parts vendor online?
I've read a number of threads on various forums about CD tray mechanical open-closing problems. A key problem seems to be that the rubber band/belt that drives several of the gears seems to commonly wear out over time, as is the case with my NAD C521.
But Radioshack didn't have any belts like this.
Where can I buy this kind of thing?

try Stock Drive http://www.sdp-si.com/
this is the 2nd time I've recommended SDP here, so, I don't work there or own stock. Just a designer who frequently uses both their website and their products.

Hello isticism, Check out mcm electronics or parts express
www.mcmelectronics.com
www.partsexpress.com
One of the two should have replacement belts and you should be able to find what you are looking for. Once you find the belts, they usually have some sort of reference about how to measure the belt so you can get the correct size.
Peace,
Dave

Installed the new belt plus a little lube and it's working again!
For future reference, the belt I ordered from mcmelectronics.com was part 42-1230. I ordered a number of belts and tried them out--this one is more robust--slightly smaller and a bit thicker, but still fits in the track.
