more playing with Panasonic WM61a's

I've been told by someone that panasonic electret capsules (like the wm61a) exhibit higher than average nonlinear distortion and nonlinear amplitude response at very high and low SPLs. I want to know if its true or not. There were a couple of AES articles on them in the 70's, which I haven't read, but it seems likely the articles aren't fully relevant anymore.

Has anyone ever done/seen any distortion tests for these capsules?

I've been told that the Earthworks mics use panasonic capsules, and are hand selected for low noise, which, IME, is the major shortcoming of this otherwise nice little gizmo. Linkwitz suggests doing the same thing on his website...
