Default What will they think of next - the rejustor

If I would post this stuff you would probably think I'm pulling your leg: a solid state resistor that can be adjusted by electrically changing the physical properties. Enter the Rejustor.

A resistor, that changes value, when another signal is connected.

Isn't that a transistor ??

No I didn't read the pdf.

No, because the new value stays when you take the 'set' voltage away. You should have read the pdf .

Mr. Didden, this was a really new thing for me, very interesting for future projects.

is it achieving the same effect as laser trimming but using software to trim?
It appears to be permanent, one cannot return back to the start value.

App note not says different. The rejustor can be changed a dozen of times at least.

But only back to a very small percentage of its original value.

Quote:
Rejustors are specified at a nominal as-manufactured resistance. The adjustable range is at-least 30%
down from the as-manufactured resistance. For example, a 10K Rejustor can be adjusted down to 7K.
Rejustors are adjustable bi-directionally; however physics in the Rejustor structure and material limits the
ability to adjust the Rejustor back to its nominal value.

The up adjustment range is constrained to 1.5% to 5% of the absolute adjustment range. For example a
10K Rejustor adjusted down 10% (to 9K) could be adjusted as high as 2% up (to 9.2K). The same
Rejustor adjusted down 30% (to 7K) could be adjusted up about 5% (to 7.4K).
