I just have a quick question and was hoping to take advantage of some of your expertise. I am thinking about changing the capacitors on a pair of microphones, specifically Microtech Gefell sms2000 bodies. The current capacitors are Philips and are labeled 40V 47uM. I believe that would indicate 47UF with 20% tolerance is that correct? They are extremely small axial caps fwiw. I would like to change the caps for whatever is the accepted top of the line or any other suggestions you guys with more experience than I may have. Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions, I truly appreciate it.

Size could be a problem. I like Panasonic ECA series. Part number ECA1HAM470X is 47mfd 50 volt and they are small. To be honest I don't think you will gain much by swapping the Philips part. Philips caps are usually pretty good I find, certainly the ones I have come across in commercial equipment are when I have tested them for ESR etc.
Edit, Enter that part number in www.cpc.co.uk and then click on the order code for full spec. |
