Default 2SK412 and 2SJ113 MOSFETs

Can someone tell me whether these two MOSFETs are of lateral or vertical type?

Vertical.
Low capacitance parts but positive tempco doesn't happen till something like 3.5 to 4 Amps of drain current.
They belong to the DI series of switching vertical mosfets.

Default 2SJ162/2SK1058

I'm still looking for lateral MOSFETs to be used in Marshall amp. Can someone verify whether 2SJ162 and 2SK1058 are lateral? It seems that they are available and not that expensive as ECX10P20 and ECX10N20.

Very lateral, apart from the package they are identical to the original lateral MOSFETs in TO3 case that Hitachi used to make.

2SJ160=2SJ48
2SJ161=2SJ49
2SJ162=2SJ50
2SK1056=2SK133
2SK1057=2SK134
2SK1058=2SK135

Downside of the plastic lateral MOSFETs is that their thermal properties are somewhat less compared to TO3 specimens.
Which is mainly a burden for Class A power amps because of the much higher heat transfer.
MOSFETs do not suffer from secondary breakdown and lateral MOSFETs in particular are selfprotecting, for Class AB power amps it makes hardly a difference to use metal TO3s or plastic TO247 case devices.

The advantage of the plastic 2SJ160 to 2SK1058 is that they're both easier to mount than TO3s and cheaper, a pair of 2SJ162/2SK1058 now cost less than what had to be paid for a pair of 2SJ50/2SK135 20 years ago.
Amusing bit is that the plastic 2SJ62/2SK1058 have now been produced for close to the same period as Hitachi manufactured the TO3 versions.

The advantage of the other Exicon lateral MOSFETs you mention is their much higher voltage rating, 200V.
Basically, they'd be good for the output stage of a 1000W/8 power amp, hardly interesting for normal folks.

Thanks. I think about building this: http://www.drtube.com/schematics/marshall/3520pwr.gif Marshall amp. It's 200W bass amp and I don't think it's class A.

You want to build the amp for home use or to amplify musical instruments ?

To amplify bass guitar. Is it a good idea? I heard the amp and it sounded quite good.
