i have always been interested in the HP z series digital media centers for my HT but haven't been willing to spend the $2000.00+ to get one.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...reg_R1002_USEN today i found the enermax horizontal case and thot i'd build my own version only to find it is discontinued. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/83-11146 any ideas on chassis like these? i like the thot of building from the ground up. moderator, if this the wrong forum please redirect this post blue934 |

There's others, from Antec and the like. That LCD display isn't anything complicated to DIY; you can hook up a standard display to the parallel port with just a pot for contrast. Try your local generic computer stores... there's probably other models by Enermax they could order in for you.
One thing to watch out for is that some cases use non-standard power supplies. And the quiet fans may not be so quiet. I bought an Antec case... the power supply fan (which was on the bottom of the case) seized and the power supply and motherboard subsequently died as well. I may put that case back into use if I can kluge a normal ATX supply in there, and persuade all the fans to be quieter. |

IMHO the nicest HTPC cases are made by SilverStone.
www.silverstonetek.com I own one of their black LC16M cases.
