Default Help with MPLAB ICD 2 clone

Hy,

I intend to buy a ICD2 Kit clone (registered to Microchip) to program a dsPIC30F6012A microcontroller used on a Audio Spectrum Analyzer LED based circuit found here

The PIC is a SMD 64 pin chip

The clone has a USB input from PC and a 6 pin ethernet jack.
It draws power from the USB and 100mA/5V for target board

My question is: Can i use this clone to program the dsPIC off-circuit, just hook the PIC to ICD2 via ethernet jack via wires?
I understand that I need a 10Kohm resistor between VDD and MCLR

Thanks for any help
