Default replacing treble/bass cut pot

I am brand new to the forum and a rank but really determined novice restoring an ancient 120w solid state Heathkit TA-17 guitar amp to spec. All is well so far but for one problem: It uses a single treble/bass cut 10k ohm pot in one of the channels. The pot is shot. It appears to have had a center detent. It is impossible to find a center detent 10k replacement short of ordering a 500-lot from Bourns. What are possible options?

Hi,
Options eh, Find one physically similar in size (with or without detent). Some old pots were huge compared to modern stuff, that could be a problem.
If the pot is just "crackly" and intermittant it is possible to open many types up to reveal the carbon track. This can then be cleaned and the wiper retensioned (bent ) to make contact with a slightly different part of the unused carbon track.
Post a picture of it, someone may recognise it.
