modifying an original 5.1 reciever
If any body can help that would be great,
My situation is...
I want to build a 5.1 surround system for my home theatre room.
I already have a 5.1 surround receiver and its great, i love it, it does all the things i want. The problem is that i want it LOUDER!!
SOO, i was thinking that i could build some amplifiers (using the LM4780 chip) and amplify each channel separately. I would then be using the original receiver as like a pre-amp which will drive these big amps to run my new speakers.
What I want to do is use the controls (volume etc) from my reciever to affect the sound of the speakers instead of having individual controls on the other separate amps that i want to build.
The trouble i thought might happen though is that all the speakers would be as loud as each other (all using the same sized amp with same sized speakers) when they shouldnt be, eg. the rear should be lower than the front and the centre.
I originally had planned to build something bigger than 120wrms/ch can anyone aid me in how i should go about it? would seperate amps running from my original reciever work? would the sound still be in perspective as it is when you watch a movie in 5.1 like say for instance, when there is background chatting in a hall.
the reason i was thinking about this is because all 5.1 receivers have lower rated speakers at the rear and more powerful speakers at the front.
Anybody know where im coming from?
