Who make the best 10,000uf capacitors

Where did you get that information???

If it is made by the same company it is sure a more expensive and better cap. You can say the same for BG and many other things. What is the point, you think a company would just print munrdof on ordinary caps just to make more money ? Give me a break...

Those are the M-lytic, not very expensive if you consider the quality... Just personal opinion, I don't have any mundorf caps, just that all people who use them say they are best out there.

BG are maybe little better. To...s it particularly suited for tube amplifiers?

What about THELs "Krummer" caps
But seems like they have stopped supply of the big one that looked much like M-Lytic, but just the same as too expencive

btw, I have once built amps with HUGE 220.000uf, and it wasnt too good really and sounded slow, and I expected the opposite...I wont use very big supply caps again, never
And I dont like any kind of paralelled caps either

Hi MCampbell,

I guess it is the company specifications and marketing that makes the price.

When you have the tools you can build anything from crap to best of the world.

'And I dont like any kind of paralelled caps either' lol ? what are you going to use then ? A dedicated regulated MOSFET power supply ? Still needs a capacitor bank hehe

I do believe you're right!!

I take it the 2nd part wasn't for me (but just for the record, I think paralleled caps are brilliant, although a parallel-series capacitor-bank is even more fun!)

Why do you think they are any better than the quality they do fore very demanding situations
Think of windmills, trains, aircrafts, military etc
Besides, why do you believe that Mundorf is more clever than a big and experienced company
Do you think that Mundorf can learn them anything
I bet they are no more than a relabeled product
They are made fore high currents, as are many other high quality industrial caps
Whether they are good fore audio is a different matter, and something of which they know nothing about, and couldnt care less about
Thats our craziness

Whether a cap sounds good or not is probably more accidental
Some people are very skilled in finding this lucky one
And present them as a superiour audio cap
The origin of such a cap might come as a very big surprice

Resistors is in the same ballgame

...not to mention the "Made in Germany" typesetting!!!
(Although if you look at the ZN tin-foil caps "Made in Germany" is strangely missing - could that be because the ZN's are, in fact, manufactured in Switzerland....?)

Evox-Rifa used to be the best 10+ years ago. If the designs are still similar, they would be my first choice. The build quality, tolerances and even MTBF exceeded all other designs regardless of brand name. I think I read somewhere recently they were bought by a huge conglomerate(?). I admit; I didn't do any further research on this buy-out as to design change, etc.

These look like the Evox-Rifa replacements by Kemet. The PEH169 series seems to be "equivalent" to the original Evox. I used originals about 10 years ago; they had the best specs. then and had a MTBF of 20 years!

You are correct
Samyoung is a joint venture of Nippon Chemicon located in S Korea.... Taicon has tie up with Nichicon. Teapo acquired G Luxon and now both are same. Panasonic have acquired Sanyo capacitor division (Semiconductor by ON, formerly Motorola)
