Proud as a peacock, I found an old lady getting rid of her husband's store of equipment (recently passed away).
Got a Fluke 8060A in mint condition, a box o toobs (various RCA brands, some NIB, some loose - need to go through them yet), and a Tek 564 on a Tek cart (Model D). Cart is in good shape, and comes with two 3C66 Carrier Amplifiers. All in all, I would say the Tek 564 is in near mint condition. It had the vinyl cover on it, and was working fine when last used (many, many years ago). Switches and pots all feel really good. I haven't fired it up yet, not sure at this point what I'm going to do. I already have a 2-ch 20MHz analog, a 4-ch 200MHz digital, and a 2-ch 20MHz analog scope. Don't really need another old 10MHz scope unless I can convince myself otherwise. It's got the 6DJ8 tubes in it, which I know are desirable. This model scope doesn't seem to get tons of money on ebay, so what should I do? Rape it for the tubes (would be a shame), variac it and see how it operates, sell it as is, etc? I don't want to potentially make something worse by energizing 30 year old capacitors (last calibrated by Tek in 1979), but one also needs to know the electrical condition. I can let it sit for days with 15V input if necessary. And what about the carrier amplifiers? Your help and suggestions are appreciated. |

As I recall this scope is a storage scope and I'd be more concerned about the CRT tube, since it's very old and if the
tube is still good would be the gold in that scope.. along with the 6DJ8's ( amperex ? ) There are also 2 plug ins in that scope and your D and 3C66 are not that desireable. Most had a 3A1 0r 3A3 and a 2B67 as I recall and yes 10Mhz... Steve @ Apex Jr. |

Thanks, kind of figured as such. I'll get the variac going and see what happens. If if goes south, at least I might be able to salvage a few tubes *crosses fingers*
