Hey everyone, I am looking at doing a project like this:
http://www.youritronics.com/led-bar-...trum-analyzer/ but i have no idea where to find a LED bar like that. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance. |

Hey, thanks for the reply. I searched newark before, but not digi-key. Anyway, the best i could find on digi-key is something like this:
http://www.lumex.com/product.aspx?id=646 But thats only 14 LEDs high (instead of 20). Would i have to get a bunch of them and mount them together? Also, wouldn't the voltage ratings and other varying specs of different LEDs change the circuit depending on what i picked? Sorry if this is obvious stuff... i'm a noob at this stuff. Thanks again for your help and patience! |

--> Yes, you would probably get two 10-segment LEDs for each column of the spectrum analyzer. |

Ok thanks again. Taking a closer look at the spec, i see that it says that "any LED type will work." I would think that since different LEDs have different voltage ratings that this would change the circuit? Or is it a negligible change or something... Thanks again.

Check around some of the surplus sites like Goldmine Electronics, All Electronics and such. Or even eBay.
They may have the common 10 segment arrays for cheap. You could save a lot of cash. Cool project, BTW. =)

Here is a link to some 20 segment on ebay......
http://cgi.ebay.com/Display-SSA-LXB2...QQcmdZViewItem It might be cheaper to buy 40 peices of 10 segment from digikey though depending on how low of an offer the ebay seller will accept.
