Default Which probes for a Tektronix 2235?

I just bought a 2235 of ebay and now I need to buy probes. Any suggestions?

I am considering the following.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Two-100MHz-O...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/Two-Oscilloscope...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/TWO-Oscilloscope...QQcmdZViewItem

Any critical specifications I should be looking for? Also would used Tektronix probes be a good idea?

Thanks,
Matt

Here is one more option for you:

I have bought multimeter and oscilloscope probes from them. They have a toll-free number, speak fluent English, ship immediately and have a very responsive customer service.

Hi Matt, you've got a good scope, if it is in a reasonable condition. On probes - you need to look for a compensation range (should include 20 pF as it is the input capacitance of 2235) and the bandwidth (should be at least 100 MHz) .

Cheers

Alex

The 4900 series looks promising as it offers a wide variety of tips. The only thing I can't figure out is if I should get the 150MHZ or 250MHz probes. The price difference is only a few dollars.

Can I use the 250MHz probes with the 2235 and just stay below the bandwidth limit of the 2235, 100MHz? I am thinking once I get a larger scope I wouldn't have to go buy another set of probes.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

x-pro gave you important advice: the probe must match the oscilloscope. One of the reasons I recommended Probemaster is their comprehensive Scope to Scope Probe chart (http://www.probemaster.com/shop/arti...?articles_id=5). For your oscilloscope they recommend models 4905-2RA(10x) and 4902-2RA(1x/10x).

Hi Matt,

Take a look here -

http://www.reprise.com/host/tektroni...age_probes.asp

A good all around probe would be a 10X, 100MHz for your 2235. You may want to take a look at the P6105 13pF. This would allow you to calibrate it to 20pF (it has a compensation adjusting range of 15-47pF) every time you hook it up. Doesn't have to be a Tek. I believe this is what x-pro and grimberg were advising.

Hope that's helpful

I have been doing researching the above suggestions and came across the Pomona 4550B. It is a X1/X10, 15/100 MHz probe with an input capacitance of 10.5pF and a compensation range of 10pF - 60pF.

Has anyone had any experience with Pomona or this scope? The probe cost about $57 and comes with a handfull of attachments.
