Hi,
I hope this is the right forum to post, if not just tell me. I'm building this: and I just noticed I don't have any 0.1 uF cap. My guess is that both 0.1 uF caps are used to filter out DC voltage, so I plan to replace them with 1 uF ones. As I'm quite new at DIY audio electronics though, maybe I'm missing something. So, what do you think? Is my guess correct ? Will the stronger cap values cause the universe to implode ? Thanks in advance for your answers. |

They also form a lowpass filter, I would not venture too far from the original values... just about any broken electronics (pre surface mount) should yield a few 100n caps... they might be marked 104, or 100n or 0.1u

Thanks for the answer. I have finally found a broken radio with a few cermacic caps labelled 104M, I guess they will do the trick.
About the lowpass filter I wasn't sure since there was no resistor with the cap (all the low and highpass filters I've seen in schematics have a resistor to ground). I'm guessing the resistance between base and emitter of Q1 plays the part of the resistor in the filter, ,am I right ? Thanks again. |

you might be able to get away with .082uf if you have that value.
