Hi,
Am a newbie from Chennai, India interested in getting into making a chip-amp. There are some places that I have scouted out for components for some of the common designs here on the board but it has been impossible for me to find any op-amps and whats a chipamp without a chip? If there are any Indian readers here would appreciate pointers on where to order parts for chipamps from in India (I can't travel abroad to get them...) Would appreciate any/all help Thanks, Sagar |

That makes two of us Poynton. I was hoping to get some answers from the forum here because i'm running out of places to look on google. In terms of general electronic components like capacitors, resistors and all...there are some places I can suggest.
Ritchie Street near Parrys is the wholesale market for pretty much everything electronic in Chennai. A lot of it is grey market so caveat emptor. Another good place to get components is Mercy Electronics at Adyar and Kodambakkam. Hope this helps |

but they are very costly and may not respond to a DIYer. Try and find out for yourself. Gajanan Phadte |

You can find LM3886 , TDA 7294 , TDA2050 with shops selling spares ( exclusively ) . These are used in many two in one's, TV's, dvd players etc. Bangalore ( SP road ) however is a better place I think.

Thanks ashok, can you suggest some names or areas that I can look at for the same? I'm also looking at opamps for a headphone amp, AD843, OPA134 and the like. Going to bangalore and getting stuff will be difficult for me. Thanks again for the post.
And gajana, thanks for the rsindia link. Can anyone tell me how easy is it getting samples from places like NS, TI, and Analog? Most of the samples for opamps on Analog website redirect me to Indian distributors...do they give out free samples? |

You can pick up commodity components, passives and chipamps from a wide variety of vendors at Ritchie St. in Chennai - Arunkumar, Kasturi, Texonic, Suraj, Swastik, Vijay, etc. However, specialty stuff may be scarce.
Ritchie St. is also the best place in Chennai for pre-owned classic audio equipment, including premium stuff like Hafler, Threshold, Nakamichi, Luxman, etc. |
