Fairchild Stealth 4A/600V direction question

does Fairchild Stealth 4A/600V has direction? as the 1N4007 Rectifier Diode i am trying to replace it with has the direction .

Saw some diy page that they put heatshrink enveloping the rectifier. will it get hot and finally cease to work? or it will be just fine to eliminate short?
