I've found a wooden case for my project, but I can't seem to find a pot that has a long enough threaded section. The wall thickness of my case is .33 and it looks like most pots are .25. Are there any pots out there that have a longer threaded lenght for wider cases? Same problem for the RCA jacks, but I can probably get away with countersking them as they are going in the rear.

Could you set the pot back in the case on a bracket or on the PCB and extend the shaft ( extenders should be readily available ). This would stop you being tied to a non standard part as well.

Hi,
Checkout replacement pots for guitar amps, from AES. Some of those have very long bushings. Cheers! |

What I have done when useing a Wodden case that had a Thick front pannel was to counter sink the Back of the Pannel with a 1in Wood bit which would leave a indent the right size for the pot to sit in and would make the pannel thinner at that spot so the shaft of the pot fits through.....
Just a thought!! |

Mount the pot on a bracket and extend the shaft using a piece of 1/4 metal tubing from you local hardware store.
See pix here: http://mark.rehorst.com/LM3886_amp/p...up_2_small.jpg and here: http://mark.rehorst.com/LM3886_amp/Amp_interior.jpg Couple the metal tube to the pot shaft using plastic tubing and tie wraps. I_F |
