Default Chassis painting?

What do people use to paint their valve amp chassis?
Just standard auto paint and some lacquer?

Depends what it's made of. If aluminium you need an etching primer then any paint on top. If it's steel, normal car primer and whatever you like on top.

Yeah, i have some kicking around at home somewhere. I'll buzz it with 1200 w&d to get the scratches out (rotozip getting a mind of its own )

Also - what do people use as covers for their inductors, trafos etc?
Do they make their own?
