Default How does OKi MFR soldering station set tip temperature?

It does not appear that this station has a temperature adjust knob, nor do the tips they offer specifiy a temperature. They say the tip just 'senses' how much heat the joint needs.

How in the heck does this work? Are these stations only really meant for lead free? If so I don't need tips that run that hot.

Thanks!
