Default Reverse of usual hum problems

Hi,

I've read many, many threads suggesting fixes for a preamp that hums at no volume and full volume, but my problem is the opposite: hum is nil with the pot at zero, advancing to its loudest at half way, and then is nil again with the pot at full.

Anyone seen this problem? What can I try?

Chris

It would be nice to see how your pot is wired. A schematic of the preamp would tell a thousand words.
