Hi all,
undoubtedly someone knows this off the top of their head so here goes: An alps RK27 seems to come in 2 shaft lenghts: 20 and 25mm. Which is the more popular? Fran |

The one that fits.
What difference does popularity make? If it fits, use it, if it doesn't, don't. If a shaft is too long, you can always cut it shorter. If it is too short, it is a problem to make it longer. The length you need depends on how and to what you intend to mount the thing. Use whatever fits your particular project. Don't worry, the length of the shaft won't affect the sound. It isn't the size that counts, it's how you use it! I_F |

yep! As I read back I reckon I should have been clearer in my question!!!
The reason for asking is that I'm about to make some nice wooden knobs for an amp and was going to do more than I needed to save a bit on costs and then sell on the excess. So I wanted to make the knobs to suit the most popular size of shaft!! I think a shaft-hole-depth of about 22mm should nearly do both types I reckon. Fran |

I don't see it making much difference. If you make a nice looking knob I'd buy it and then adapt the shaft to fit. If you make an ugly-looking knob I'd steer well clear of it, right size or not

OK,
decided to go with one to suit the 25mm shaft I have on the alps I have to hand. It actually means that the end of shaft to the collar where the locking nut goes is around 22mm Fran |
