look into the AD datasheet in post before. I have one on my hand. You look from top on the writing. left down is 1.

Some SO-8s are bevelled along the side containing pin 1.

Hi,
If you look very carefully you will see that one side of the IC has a oblique angle. This is the 1-4 pin side. Pins are always numbered counterclockwise, just as the atoms in a molecule, and this will give you a clue which one is number one. I admit I stared quite some time at a AD8611 to figure it out!
