Hi Jackinnj,

I didn’t miss it, not in those days This is the story: In the early ’80 of the past century I did a search for a low cost system to control technical stuff in a theatre performance. Three came up An Apple II, a Commodore 64 and a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. The Apple II was first choice but too expensive. The Sinclair ZX Spectrum with a Z80 inside won because of the good hardware interface capabilities and lowest cost. Besides that there was a good Z80 assembler for it available. Yes on compact cassette. A single compilation took half an hour arghhh…

The first version of my preamp control (see my www for some info) ran on an acorn atom... Yup that's 6502. I later even made a pcb for it with micro, via, ram, rom and loads of logic to control the pramp. Big bulky doublesided pcb..

It had a lc-display for showing what input was selected and i even stopped the 6502 clock when there was nothing to do
(cmos version required). RC5 decoding on board too.

Now i am using a pic, since somebody offered me some samples and it is easier to programm (i do not have an eprom programmer, so i had to pay somebody a visit now and then to 'burn' the latest version of the program. I have an eprom simulator, so i did not have to go too often ;-> The pic is
programmable in-circuit, which is much handier.

I still have several atoms and even an electon... And i am still a member of the acorn atom userclub. .... :-|
Still gather once a month to talk about all but atoms... hihi.

Greetings,
Guido B
