Hi,
following my post on gain for an Onsemi MJE15034, here are the results for some samples supplied direct from ONsemi Europe. All tested at 19.05mA to 19.12mA emitter current MJE15034 ... hFE 287 to 308 for 5 samples. MJE15034G . hFE 128 to 132 for 5 samples. MJE15035 ... hFE 195 to 200 for 5 samples. MJE15035G . hFE 190 to 192 for 5 samples. Any explantion why the newer G (lead free) NPN have such low gain? or why the PNP are very closely matched but the NPN almost seem to be different types rather than samples of supposedly the same transistor. One MJE15035 sample was checked over the Ie range of 1mA to 28.4mA (junction temperature would be rising slightly as Ie was raised). Ie was measured as volts across 1k05 resistor. Base was fed via a 10k, Vce~=1.2V Ie V .... Ib uA 1.02 ..... 51.4 cold, rose to 52.7uA when warm 1.91 ..... 95.1 2.98 ..... 150 4.00 ..... 201 5.03 ..... 250 6.05 ..... 301 7.10 ..... 353 8.05 ..... 400 9.00 ..... 445 10.0 ..... 494 12.0 ..... 593 14.03 ... 692 16.0 ..... 788 18.01 ... 878 19.99 ... 976 22.08 ... 1077 23.95 ... 1167 25.99 ... 1264 28.04 ... 1360 29.84 ... 1445

Hi,
any comment or different results for the G(lead free) and non G NPNs? What about the other MJE1503x? Are they consistent between NPN/PNP or between lead free/ older types?

Hi Andrew
I have some coming very soon. In fact I already hve the MJE15035G, and have measured them, but I will wait till MJE15034G arrives before making comments about them. Sorry if am wrong, but I thought you were meant to measure base current and collector current, not emitter current. |
