I just acquired an older sound system with the identifying brand info MCS Series 2237. Does anyone know anything more about this unit? Who sold it? When? Where can I get replacement parts?
Thanks for any information. |

ask that question at www.audiokarma.org and you will find way more info.
MCS was carried by JC penny. Some stuff was made by technics. Evan

Thanks for the info, Evan.
I was able to buy an AudioTechnica cartridge for the record player. I haven't installed it yet. Another problem with the unit --- an MCS Series 2237 -- is that the volume control makes horrendous noise. I have to keep fiddling with it to get the volume to respond, and even when I think I have it stabilized, it seems to fade to lower volume. I guess the problem is dirty contacts, but I don't see a way to get insde to clean it. Any ideas on this? |

You need to clean the volume control with Caig DeOxit.
Search audiokarma.org on the best way to do it. It should clean up the control nicely. Evan
