Hi all,
I have been looking into buying the rail decoupling caps for the AX Ver 1.0 boards. One addition to the design was provisions for a pair of Black gates 47uF 50V N type for rail decoupling. If you have been turned off by the enormous price, as I was, but still would like the sonic benefits of the best caps in the world this thread may be for you. I have obtained a quote for these caps from Japan. I won't post the price for a number of reasons, needless to say the price is much lower than I have seen around. Let me just say that using the prices from the Cardas and Mills purchases it should be easy to extrapolate what the price is. You can use these for rail but they maybe great for AC coupling too. This is only the survey stage. We could come up with a number of different values if the number is high enough. We'll see. I don't have a WIKI page up, yet. Feel free to set it up. My feeling is that by the time we are done with all these bulk purchases there will be a lot of great sounding systems out there.

I'd be interested in at least 4 or more if the price was right.

Is anybody interested in getting 1000/50V N type for gainclone? It would probably run around $25 a pc. but should be worth it. I, myself, would need 12 at least.

Peter,
A smoking price, but I could only justify buying 4 of the 1000uF caps if I am still going to build a set of Aleph Xs. To bad that quote isn't CAD. I am in for 8 of the 47uF 50V though...

I would be interested in at least 4 of these. Could pricing for the 1000uF be determined also?

Hi,
there is a wiki page: http://www.diyaudio.com/wiki/index.p...verything+Else try to fill it up as best as you can. At present we are trying to survey how many requests we have and for what. There are enough points in the curve to be able to interpolate what the cost is going to be for these caps, take the cardas and mills numbers, look at a few catalogs out there and see if you can obtain the unknown value. We need to get our ducks in order before I ask for more quotes. Call me old-fashioned but these are Japanese people, as such I have NO idea of how the their threshold for BS'ing is before they start to think I am just wasting their time. So I would say lets give it a couple of weeks or make it an open ended deal, see how many requests we get and go from there. Realistically, we need at least 500 pieces to really get the savings we want. |

Seriously, did I miss something while I’ve been doing the Cardas Shuffle. What happened to the 220uf caps in the Aleph and the X? Are these not worthy of being Blackgates as well??? Rodd Yamashita |
