Hi all,
I'm looking around for a medium- to high-end tube amp kit, most likely a SET but I'm not set on that. It'll be driving hi-eff speakers. Any recommendations? I've seen the offerings at DIYHIFI and Audio Note Kits. I can't seem to find any info about Vaccum State kits (do they still exist?). And I'm sure I'm missing many others. Thanks! |

Allen's stuff would definitely be classed as high end. Good value for the money. dave

Something a little different, great with 16 ohm speakers. Friend of mine built one, very good as is, some opportunities for improvements if you want to.

Before you purchase from anyone, do some research on the vendor. A number of people, including myself, have had problems with Ron Welborne; a search on audioasylum will turn up a lot of dissatisfied customers. Also, consider Bottlehead (http://www.bottlehead.com). I've had great luck with them, and they have a very helpful forum. Regards, Scott |

I don't see any way to order a kit on www.vacuumstate.com, have they all been removed?
Even when I click Online Shop > Preamplifiers the page says: "This order page has been removed" Anyone know if kits are actually still for sale? Thanks! Bottlehead's kits also look quite good. |
